The Empyreal Spears – Introduction to Spear Mage

The Empyreal Spears – Introduction to the Warlock Discipline Interested in the Warlock are you?! I can’t blame you, it’s only the most incredible discipline ever to grace the world of Defenders of the Cross. So to get started, here’s the basics. How to become a Warlock The Warlock is a discipline that comes from the Mage class. It’s not enough to simply be a Mage, however, the Warlock uses a weapon not normally associated with the Mage class, the spear! In using the spear, there are certain adjustments you have to make and things you have to avoid. First thing’s first, becoming disciplined does not necessarily make you stronger than the second job class, it just specializes you in fighting a specific way. To seek a discipline is a storyline choice and it requires dedication to the playstyle that the discipline identifies as. If this is not for you, you are not making yourself weaker by sticking to the path of a Standard Mage.  Warlock Stat Priority Primary Stat – STRENGTH The spear gains its attack power from points in Strength, and as such you want to prioritize increasing it before all other stats. Warlocks fight much closer to the frontline than a Mage normally would, employing melee attacks and auto-attacks, therefore they benefit not only from the increased damage from Strength but also the increased defense and base health. Secondary Stat – CONCENTRATION and INTELLIGENCE Concentration is vital to any class centered around dealing damage, since concentration increases accuracy, and Warlock is no exception. Warlocks have powerful debuffs, devastating finishers and rely on auto attacks to maximize...

Christiane’s Ice Mage Guide

What is an Ice Mage? The Muse has class has varied sub-categories that deal with control of specific elements. These include: ice mastery, wind mastery, fire mastery, and thunder mastery. Muses who focus on the ice and wind elements are called Ice Mages, and therefore focus on advancing the ice & wind techniques available to the mage class. A successful ice mage will manipulate the element of ice to hinder their opponent’s performance. Thus, the act of debuffing is an integral part of this mage category. What is an Advanced Ice Mage? The road to become an elementalist of ice & wind  is arduous, but not for the reasons you may suspect. In order to become an advanced ice mage, one must strictly focus on using ice or wind abilities for combat. Any deviance from this detracts from true mastery of these elements. Therefore, it is highly recommended that one refrains from using abilities that are not in accord with the discipline. An example of such abilities would be those that fall into the fire category. In addition to refraining from using certain abilities; a advanced ice mage should be proficient in ice and wind abilities to the point of complete mastery. This means that in order to properly advance your skills as an ice mage; one should know how to perform the ice/wind abilities that are readily available in the class toolkit. These include, but are not limited to, abilities such as: Permafrost Chill and Icy Hailstorm. What differentiates an Ice Mage from an Advanced Ice Mage? An advanced ice mage is essentially a step-up from an ordinary...

Armucis’ Spear Mage Guide

The Warlock Discipline is one Mages can choose to specialize in by wielding a Spear as their main weapon and concentrating on single target techniques. Warlocks use a fighting style adapted from Muse and Soldier teachings, hence the culmination of this training is meant to reflect this hybrid between Energy and Physical attacks, entitled “The Energy Warrior”. How to train yourself: As an aspiring Warlock, you start out as a Muse with the goal of becoming a Mage later on. However you balance this energy training with physical training and increasing your Strength as your primary focus. This allows you to wield more powerful weapons and deal more damage with attacks channeled from your spear. Aside from a primary focus on Strength, you can choose to train other aspects of yourself for the following reasons: Intelligence for increased energy reserves and improved defense against energy attacks. Especially since you are in the frontline more often than a regular Mage, you are more prone to running out of steam, it’s worth investing some points into intelligence if you find this happening a lot. Dexterity for further increased damage, in tandem with Strength, you can keep scaling up your damage by training your Dexterity once your Strength has hit a plateau and become difficult to increase. Concentration for improved accuracy. Your powerful attacks and combinations will fail to get the job done if they cannot connect to their targets. It is always important to increase your concentration in order to make sure your accuracy is on part with the opponents you are fighting, never forget to put some dedication to this...

You want to make sure to increase your INT (Intelligence) the most, since it increases your MP, your Mystic Defense and the attack power of a Staff, which is your weapon of choice! Stats Here is a brief explanation of the stats you can increase, and their relevance to Muses, in particular. STR – Increases HP, Physical Defense, and Attack PowerDEX – Increases Dodge Rate and Melee Attack Power INT – Increases MP, Mystic Defense, and Mystic Weapon Attack PowerCON – Increases Accuracy, and Attack Power of GunsCHA – Improves Loot Drops, Decreases chance of Equipment breaking when InjuredSEN – Improves Critical Hit Rate of Auto-Attacks Your main stat is INT, since it is a required stat to wield a Staff, which is the main weapon of the Mage class. This means that most skills will require you to have a one equipped, or you won’t be able to use them. Intelligence also increases your attack power by the highest amount when you are wielding a staff, so it allows you to deal the most damage, the earliest in your build.
