Dice Roll System

During your adventures in the world of Defenders of the Cross you may come across the message of “A Die has been Cast”. This is an announcement you will see when a dice roll has been done in relation to your character. The concept of a dice roll is similar to that of Tabletop Role Playing Games where a 20 sided dice is rolled to determine the nature or effectiveness of some sort of result (be it an action, a reward, an improvement, damage, etc.). As for what events count as “in relation to your character,” there can be various examples: You character tried to force an action that did not have a guaranteed chance of success, such as breaking a wall or picking a lock, so a Die will be rolled for your chance at success. You helped an NPC and they will receive some sort of improvement or promotion, so a Die will be rolled to determine how much of an improvement they receive. You are trying to salvage materials from a wreck, so a Die will be rolled to see how much you get. You are trying to demoralize an opponent, so a Die will be rolled to see the effectiveness of that attempt. Your actions or words are making a M.O.B. entity reconsider their stance on something, a die will be rolled to determine if you convinced them or not. These are just some examples of a variety of situations in which a dice roll can get involved.  You may notice that sometimes you will receive experience when a die is cast, and sometimes you...
Economy Guide

Economy Guide

The Economy. Greetings, Defender! In this guide, we will speak to you and inform you of what it means to hand in, produce, and earn rewards for the Economical World of Defenders of the Cross. But, to your surprise, we won’t exactly be sitting around here speaking about coins, or zulie. We’re going to speak about the resources and Materials of the World, and their role in the economy of the world of Defenders of the Cross. Resource Drives For starters, if you’re not familiar with the term of “Resource Drives”. It’s time we familiarize you then. A resource drive, is a location in which a Resident or Local NPC will be requesting specific materials from the Defenders of the world. You can find these materials using several means, one of them being collecting them from Creatures or Natives, by picking up the drops. (Keep in mind item drops do fluctuate). These of which can be interacted with by using the “/prize #” command. To use this, all you must do is iterate the text “/prize” followed by the number of the item in the list that is being offered. Now, do not think to yourself that this is a worthless endeavor, because it isn’t in the slightest. Resource Drives can an abundance of good rewards if provided materials to, and they are the only means of being able to refine and upgrade weapons for your character. But, this isn’t the only means for resource drives to be of use. You can also locate rare armors in specific drives, or even find yourself with potions, giving you abilities that...
In-Character MOB Terms

In-Character MOB Terms

Since the world of Defenders of the Cross is a Role-Playing Game. Every Defender (or player) must learn to separate in-game and out-game. The systems of D.O.T.C will express things in a Storyline sense, and it is your job to interpret. There are many terms within the M.O.B System that will be expressed a certain way, and to your “out game” persona they will have a different meaning.  The first example of this is the “Feel free to come by and have a chat.” When an NPC or SNPC tells you that, it means that you can use it’s default conversations by double-clicking it. This is very common in NPC that are also sellers. They tell you “have a chat” to allow the player to know he can go by at any moment and buy from the NPC by clicking on the NPC. A second example can be “Someone out in the lands.” When an SNPC or NPC tells you that, it means you are looking for a non-static NPC. (Static NPC example [Guide] Eva) You will often see the keyword “Utilize” when the action will involve the M.G.P. or “/prize” system. For example, the phrase: “You should Utilize a Rock for that” details that a Rock item will be required for a prompt. There are different ways M.O.B. entities can request items: “Carrier Request” which means that the items needed must be deposited in an allied stockpile and must be shipped to the location that it is to be used. These typically involve larger quantities of items or are of a nature that requires transportation. “Collection Request” which...
Mini Game Prompts (MGP)

Mini Game Prompts (MGP)

The world of Defenders of the Cross has several mini-games. Some of these can be used outside of Prime Time and others are directly linked to the Storylines and Side Stories of the DOTC Universe. Here are the first 3 one should be aware of and a little on how they function. #1 Fishing:In this type of minigame, you’ll need to use one of the text commands you should be familiar with. This one is the “/prize #” command. Unlike many situations in which you use just “/prize 1”, here you will use/prize 1-9. Meaning items will appear in the same prompt and you must shuffle between typing /prize 1, /prize 2. /prize 9, and so on. The catch is in one of the prizes, you need to find it within the time window of the fishing prompt, once you find it, use it as much as possible until it runs out. Fishing prompts cycle on and off at spots you find them in. In this mini-game one is required to have a Fish Bait, or else you can’t interact with the prompt. Fishing bait can be acquired via M.O.B. traders tied to fishing. One of the most common items to fish out is Carp. Carp can be traded in at taverns or inns for coins or clan points. Many other types of fish can also be found, such as Crystalline Marlin. These are rarer and are found based on the maps you decide to fish at.  Fishing Missions:When you are fishing for a particular object or catch, the prompt works like it usually does, the difference is that...

What are NULL Statements?

Though hopefully rare, during your adventures in the world of Defenders of the Cross you may come across a notification, typically in the form of an automated whisper message, that you or a character involved in an interaction you are taking part of has issued a NULL statement. This usually, though not always, causes the interaction to end and prevent the characters from continuing said event until the server reset (they can go elsewhere and try other interactions, it is just that one which will be blocked). So what is a NULL statement? It is when your say something your character does not know (either because you are bringing out-of-game information into the conversation or you have not found it out with your character yet), you have made reference to something that does not exist within the DotC world (like accidentally pasting a website URL, yes it happens), or you find yourself in an area you are not supposed to have access to (such as a planet you do not have available transports to get to). If you character receives too many NULL statements, consequences do exist. If you character reaches a threshold of NULL statements they will have their name revoked and be relegated to a “side character” with no identity. This can be seen as a player whose name is “D.####” where the #### stands for their ID number. Mistakes do happen from time to time, however, so it is only if your character receives too many NULL statements that this will happen. Furthermore over time, a character’s NULL count will be reset to zero, so doing...
