INTRODUCTION TO MINING

Welcome prospectors! You may have come across an interesting object in the world of Defenders of the Cross known as crystalline. They typically show up as a roughly player-sized crystal of a specific color, such as blue for example. These can be mined to acquire crystals of the respective color of the crystalline and some valuable loot used in crafting of gems and accessories. The colored crystals also have importance to the storyline. So, how do you mine these? We will go over that in this guide:

HOW DO WE GET THE CRYSTALS TO DROP?

You may have noticed that the crystals do not always drop, what is the mechanic behind them dropping or not? The secret behind this is that doing skills on the crystalline will cause crystals to drop while hitting it with auto attacks will NOT.

HOW CAN I GET THE MOST CRYSTALS OUT OF A CRYSTALLINE?

The crystalline will drop crystals of its color every time it gets struck by a skill, so the secret to getting more crystals is to do the least amount of damage possible to it. There are multiple ways of doing this, so feel free to experiment! Depending on the build of your character, this may be harder for some; in those cases it is recommended to seek out the help of other Defenders who can have an easier time not breaking the crystalline too fast.

WHAT OTHER THINGS CAN I GET FROM THE CRYSTALLINE?

Crystalline may drop other materials such as elemental ores and spiritual stones, however these drops only occur when the crystalline is broken so depending on which material you are looking for, you may choose to break the crystalline rapidly or slowly. These materials are typically used in the crafting of gems and accessories, as previously mentioned.

WHAT USE DO I HAVE FOR THE CRYSTALS?

There are typically resource drives at locations with Refineries, such as the Gorge Town found in the planet of Junon. These reward players will a variety of valuable materials used to upgrade equipment, and have further use via the storyline.
