AFTER THE DESTRUCTION OF THE LIBRARY DEFENDERS HAVE BEEN RUSHING TO RECOVER TEXTS FROM THE PAST. SOME HAVE EVEN SPENT TIME TO WRITE NEW ENTRIES INTO THE LIBRARY.

BELOW ARE TEXTS ADDED DURING THE LAST FEW DAYS. THESE DEFENDER TEXTS ARE ALL WRITTEN FROM ONE PERSON’S POINT OF VIEW AND BELIEF…

Hello, if you are reading this, you have found my study journal! I always intended for this knowledge to move onto other hands, so enjoy! By the way, Mr Pop says hello!

First lesson -as I learned myself with the help of Zehruk- was getting down the proper words and terms to adequately understand what we are doing.

VOCABULARY

First know that Summoning is a term that can encompass all below but used to define the demand and urgency. Summoning may mean or entail that you own. But clerics do not own pets like a hawker owns a hawk or a wolf. Creatures need to be tamed while a native needs to be invoked due to the fact that a native chooses to aid.

Enchanting or Beguile – charm or enchant (someone or something)

Luring – tempting or taunting something to a location

Invoke – To ask for aid, to call upon

BRANCHES

From what I have seen and learned, I find it necessary to explain what each act or skill that we can carry out actually is and does.

Invoking – Calling upon natives (using energy to attract). Be aware that the skills we learn do not force anyone, therefore, if a Brinto has some to your aid, it is willing. You do want to get to know them and their story… Learn why the choose to come help us… planets away.

Conjuring Constructs – the skills we learn like summoning a Phantom Sword of a Flame are actually the act of attuning energy into solid forms and giving purpose they act out. This can be considered the most advanced manipulations of energy.

With time though I realized there are two steps to such skills and techniques. One is the actual attunement of energy into solid forms.  Second, the actual control of the object can truly be one of your creation or an already existing one. It would actually take less energy to just control… or probably depends on how big something is and for how long… Like most things it will require lots of practice.

WHO DO WE INVOKE, AND WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT THEM?

We invoke natives, using our energy to attract them.  But they are convinced to aid us; because a native with self awareness like you and I, can choose to help or not. It’s important you find out why they have chosen to help. Just like you and me, you will find there is a story and a reason….  Not all can speak our tongue, but they can understand ours… or at the very least our intentions which they align with.

Now let’s talk about who and what we can invoke and summon.

Natives

Self-aware individuals with the ability to reflect like you and I.

1)Brinto of flame, whom we call fire elemental. I learned of the name in their language speaking with the first one I ever invoked, Calcifer.

2)Firegon,  a subcategory of dragons (Zehruk who taught me practically all of this had never seen proof of a Firegon showing he was self-aware with the capacity to reflect. But I saw Drogo, the first firegon I ever summoned interact with the Red Dragon nesting during the Dragon Season mid Aruan vs Principality War in Forest of Wisdom. He understood the red dragon, he attempted speaking their tongue, but he could only rawr. They understood him though – the Red Dragon-, they saw him as lesser and showed disgust over him having tried to speak their tongue. He was killed for this.)

Constructs

A creation of our own energy made into solid form. What we do is attune our energy into making a physical form because muses can define their energy far better than other job classes.

1)Salamander flame

2)Clery flame

3)Bonfire

4)Phantom Sword

Important fact about flames is that they can be used to force your bidding on creatures and even natives, or drive them insane. Weakening those around a flame as we usually perform is acceptable, but anything that goes beyond that is frowned upon. I.e. a flame can be used as a repellent, this can be achieved by usually acquiring some ingredients for your recipe. Say that in Xita refuge due to the lack of an alpha all creatures go crazy. Putting together some alpha pee and a flame, or something along those lines can help repel the creatures that had been acting out. Think of your flame as an oil diffuser. Teehee.

THE STORY OF CALCIFER, THE BRINTO OF FLAME

As many clerics that focus in the art of invoking, one day you might succeed in calling upon an elemental for aid, and he will just answer your call. Be warmed… they are rude and stubborn.

First thing you should know is that you should be grateful because they did not have to come, they chose to.

The first time I met this fine and strong elemental we did not speak, but I wanted to address him so I called him Calcifer until the day he’d share with me his name.

This was around the times in which we hunted demons and fought against the aruans before their kingdom fell. I was much younger and learning so much every day, but I was grateful to have Zehruk around to help me understand that my friend, even if he seemed to be a bit of a mindless creature, he was actually a very particular individual like you and I, with a story to tell.

After our first battle you might be surprised to learn that he began to call me weak and eventually left me, ran away. Hasta la vista baby. Going awol, he caused havoc and burnt a few green patches in Anima, started some fires… and attacked a few training defenders in Desert of the Dead. During all this time I would search for him and find him, get beat up by him and get called weak again. But I’d continue coming back because no one ever became strong by giving up. I lured him out some times as well by summoning bonfires.

After a battle in DOTD Calcifer was hurt and approaching him he told me -only after having asked what he was doing- that he was licking his wounds. Finally he spoke and did not fight. He asked for a bonfire to eat -cause they love those- and I conjured some up for him to devour. Apparently at that moment he was clearly not in the mood to brawl with me.

It was then he told me he was Brinto of Flame.  When I asked who his past master was he said that was not relevant, because they only follow who they choose, when they choose – and lets be frank, whoever it had been, was surely dead by then-. And there is no master they choose to follow forever. So understand that his use of the word master was very loose.

Brinto was not his name tho, it is his people, like the woopies or the goblins. Whom we call Elementals, are Brinto. Brinto of flame being a fire elemental.

Later on during battles he joined willingly, he expressed adamantly that he had to become stronger. Even when he performed amazingly impressive feats such as a fire column and could incinerate a whole room in the Goblin cave by himself, he did not feel strong enough. Now I know more than ever that his need to become stronger was worry. He worried for what would come. He worried I wouldn’t survive. He probably worried he wouldn’t survive…

It’s important you know I write this a long, long time after his passing because I could not make the tears stop to actually be able to write.

Elementals are fighters, they come off as rude because they come from a far away planet that is in worse shape than ours, and they are in constant pain…. Their power, their incredible power comes with the price of never ceasing pain. The flame that burns within them burns them as well. So do not falter if you ever meet a Brinto and they call you weak, rise to the occasion. They only know pain and they do not complain or give up. Their words come from a place of pain and a history of war and destruction. He shared that elementals are treated as slaves, they do not share in community, and they do not help each other…

The ones that answer like Calcifer are the ones that understand and align with your goals  and passion and determination. The goal Calcifer answered for is probably one that transcends us all, it is bigger than us all, and worth fighting and dying for – the kind of goals that make a mark in history. Peace and freedom.

Calcifer had a warrior’s death, he held a line in the Lunar Docks during a reteared. He scorched many enemies during the attack and left his mark. Everyone was able to retreat safely that day thanks to Calcifer and his burning flame and strength.

Always remembered the words that got him to join us, the reason and the words I told him that day in front of the Goblin Cave that had him join us and stop calling me and the others weak.

Stronger, together.

In memory of Calcifer & Drogo.
